The Cyber Security Act (CSA) came into effect on 18 September 2023 in the background of criticisms against the Digital Security Act (DSA) 2018. The DSA, adopted in October 2018 by the Bangladesh Government, became a threat to the freedom of opinion, expression, and press, and a tool for muzzling dissenting voices. After a wide range of criticism for the cancellation of this act, it was just amended into the Cyber Security Act on 18 September 2023. This website documents the cases filed under the CSA since its inception and provides perspectives of various stakeholders about the CSA, the nature and scope of the use of the law, and its implications for freedom of expression and democracy.
